

Jackie K Meadows passed away on Thursday, November 1, 2012.Services will be at Gipson Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin, Monday afternoon at 2:00 PM with Dr. Andy Pitman officiating. Interment will be at Berry Cemetery. Viewing will be Sunday evening from 5:30-7: 30 PM at Gipson Funeral home.
Jackie was born in Jasper County, Texas on September 15, 1919 to Will and Clair Keen. She moved to Lufkin in 1939 where she met Gaston Meadows, her husband of 71 years. Jackie worked in a Navy Shell plant in Fort Worth while her husband served in the Army during World War 11.
She had two children Diane Maxey and husband William of Phoenix, Arizona, and Mike Meadows and wife Cathie of Boerne, Texas; four grandchildren, Dana O'Leary, Robert Maxey, Laura Meadows, and Chris Meadows; and three great grandchildren, John Paul O'Leary, and Jacob and Mallory Meadows.
For over 50 years, Jackie was an active member of First Baptist Church of Lufkin. She was president and outreach leader of her Sunday School class (Amity) for many years. She was a member of the Eastern Star for 50 years. Jackie loved people, made many friends through the years, and was known for her keen sense of humor. She found great fulfillment serving as a volunteer at Memorial Hospital for 15 years. Jackie also worked for Sears and Montgomery Wards for 15 years. She and her husband were residence of Pinecrest Retirement Center in Lufkin for the last 8 years.
Jackie was preceded in death in March by her daughter, Diane, and her parents, Will and Clair Keen, and by 6 brothers and two sisters.
