

James G. Burnett, 71, of Zavalla, was born September 8, 1939 in Shawnee Prairie, Texas, the son of the late Edna Lee (Carter) and James Gerald Burnett. He passed away Thursday, December 16, 2010 at his residence.
Mr. Burnett loved his family. He was a loving father and grandfather. He was an experienced welder and enjoyed his work. He also enjoyed fishing, playing "42" and "moon". He served his country in the United States Army.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and LaDonna Burnett of North Carolina; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer (Burnett) and Brandon Rambin of Garrison; 8 grandchildren; sisters, Dianne Burnett of Atlanta, Georgia and Delores Foreman of McComb, Mississippi; step-sisters, Ruth Savitt and Cathy Gray, both of McComb, Mississippi; and a number of other family members and friends.
Mr. Burnett was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jackie Sue Holley; brother, "Bubba" Hardwood; and granddaughter, Samantha Ann Rambin.
Pallbearers will be Curtis Crawford, Sr., Curtis Crawford, Jr., Thomas Crawford, Jason Hooks, Albert Courtney and Brandon Rambin.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Peters and Hillary Crawford.
Services for Mr. Burnett will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 22, 2010 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Cary Modisett officiating. Interment will follow in the Carrell Cemetery in Huntington
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
