Jerry Doyle Burris

Services for Jerry Doyle Burris, 78, of Lufkin, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 29, 2018 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Captains Jason and Michelle Moore officiating. Interment will follow in the Whitehouse Cemetery.

Mr. Burris was born May 25, 1939 in Lufkin, Texas, the son of the late Evelyn (Worthy) and Doyle Burris. He passed away Thursday, April 26, 2018 in a Lufkin hospital.

Mr. Burris was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was retired from the Lufkin Paper Mill. Mr. Burris was a member of the Salvation Army. He was an avid hunter and farmer.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Laura Burris; son and daughter-in-law, Dwayne and Linda Burris; daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Robert Villanueva and Susan and Stacy Luce; grandchildren, Jordan Burris, Landon Burris, Jessica Biggs and husband Chris, Lily Luce, Chloe Luce, Bobby and Dawn Villanueva; Nick Villanueva and fiancée Iesha White; Lauren and Patrick Granado; great-grandchildren, Zephyr Joy Biggs, Sean, Ian, Matthew, and Joselyn Villanueva; sister and brother-in-law, Janece and Buddy Jones; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Earl Wayne and Elaine Stuckey and Travis and Nola Stuckey; brother-in-law, Jay Renken.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Burris was preceded in death by his sisters, Geraldine Renken and Joann Adams and husband J. R. Adams; brother-in-law, Pete Lankford; great-granddaughter, Sara Biggs; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jessie Stuckey and Cleo Stuckey; and sister-in-law, Mary Beth Stuckey.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.
