

Jim Henry Sharp was born in Lufkin, Texas on July 27, 1932 to the late Vida Sadie and Hiram Griffin Sharp and went to meet them and his Lord on June 14, 2014. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 in the Gipson Chapel with Brother Cary Modisett officiating. Interment followed in the Fairview Cemetery.
Jim was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting with his son, Jimmy. He always said that, “Fish once a week kept you happy and healthy!” He retired from Lufkin Industries after 38 years as a machinist and inspector. In his later years, Jim was well known for building and selling his “Critter Cages” (raccoon and fish traps).
He is survived by his loving soul mate, Betty Barkley; son and daughter-n-law, Jimmy and Karen Sharp of Lake Jackson, Texas; daughter and son-n-law, Vida and Wade Sullivan of Lufkin, Texas; granddaughters, Stephanie Sullivan of Dallas, Texas; Jade Henderson and husband, Justin of Ada, Oklahoma and Janna Sharp of Lake Jackson, Texas; and great granddaughter, Reagan Henderson.
Jim also had many loving family members who adopted him as Poppa. Susan and Bernie Buckner and children, Karen Barkley and children, Karen and Marty Parrish and children, Angela and Doug McBride and children and “My Grandbaby” as he called MaKenzie Barkley Parrish who he enjoyed watching her grow from an infant to school age.
Pallbearers were Kenneth Bomar, Bernie Buckner, J. T. Hambrick, Hilburn Havard, Phillip Stuart, and Jack Turner
Honorary pallbearers were Bill Brookshire, Raymond Havard, Doug McBride, and Marty Parrish.
