Jo Ann Strickland

Services for Jo Ann Strickland, 57, of Crockett, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 14, 2013 at Huntington First United Methodist Church, with Reverend Martin Doran officiating. Interment will follow in the Walnut Grove Cemetery in Rusk County, Texas.

Mrs. Strickland was born October 12, 1955 in Houston, Texas.

Jo Ann went in peace to be with her Father and those before her on Sunday, unexpectedly. Although we will miss that smile and laughter, she is happy and making others smile.

Jo Ann loved traveling, being with her family, especially her grandchildren. Jo Ann was a wonderful wife of 40 years, a great mother who loved her sons and grandchildren. She will be missed by all that knew her.

Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Mary and Art Montanari of Crockett; husband, Kenneth Strickland, Sr. of Crockett; sons, Kenneth Strickland II and wife Jennifer of Waco and Joseph Strickland and special friend Kim Legg of Crockett; grandchildren; Kenneth Dillan, Colton Ellis, Lauren Ashley, Jenna Evelynn Strickland, Blair Ann, Natches Raynes, and Rayla Lynn Strickland; sisters, Christine Elizabeth Walker and husband A. J. and Mary Kathleen Surrency and husband Van, all of Crockett; brother, Lionell White and wife Nancy of Houston; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Mrs. Strickland was preceded in death by her father, Walton Ellis White; and granddaughter, Kendra Nicole Strickland.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Johnson, Dillan Strickland, Colton Strickland, Charles Bristow, Sean Canning, and Kenneth Strickland II.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bubba Casey and Joe Strickland.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
