

Services for Joe Carroll Dunn, 70, of Milam, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 15, 2014 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. David Boyd officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Union Cemetery.
Mr. Dunn was born December 12, 1943 in Lufkin, the son of the late Novie Opal Dunn Byerly and Archie Dunn, and passed away March 12, 2014 in a Houston hospital.
Mr. Dunn was a self-employed commercial plumber. He fished all his life on Toledo Bend and Sam Rayburn, even on the river before the lake was built. He also enjoyed hunting and was an avid golfer, which he played every chance he got. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by daughter, Leasa Dunn; daughter, Cathy Dunn Loerch, both of Chireno; grandchildren, Reece Mathews and wife, Alicia; Ryan Mathews, Alli Mathews and Regina Loerch; great-grandson, Raylon Mathews; brother, Johnnie Dunn and wife, Peggy of Milam; sister, Wanda Hunt of Lufkin; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by step-father, Birlin (Bill) Byerly; granddaughter, Gene Marie Loerch; and sister, Gwendolyn Best.
Pallbearers will be Reece Mathews, Ryan Mathews, Randy Best, Chris Dunn, Justin Hunt and Ronnie Collins.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
