

Services for Lillian Elsie Jones, 88, of Lufkin, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2013, in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Walter Futch officiating. Interment will follow in the Berry Cemetery.
Mrs. Jones was born June 26, 1924 in Angelina County, Texas, the daughter of the late Clara Bertha (Carpenter) and Thomas Riley Horton. He passed away Saturday, April 27, 2013 in a local hospital.
Mrs. Jones was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed quilting, sewing and making stuffed animals, especially bears. She did a good job raising her children and they enjoyed their life together. Mrs. Jones was a good cook and made a small amount go a long way. Her specialty was making good biscuits. Ms. Lillian never complained about anything. She was a member of Parkview Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas Eugene and Deborah Jones and John Melvin and Patricia Jones, all of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Linda Joyce and Eddy Strong of Denton, Texas; grandchildren, Cristopher and Aaron, Thomas, Joyce, Tommy, Kerrie and Jennifer, Oliver, Josh, Amy, Thomas and Johnie; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Windsor of Hudson; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by husband, Johnie E. Jones; 4 sisters, Sarah Gann, Alice Shoffitt, Ruthie Mae Heaton and Danie Nicholes; 3 brothers, Thomas, Levi and Marshall Horton.
Pallbearers will be family members.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
