Linda Gertrude Hearne

Linda Gertrude Redd Shumaker Hearne was born January 24, 1929, the oldest (and only girl) of five children, to Daisy Hermann Redd and Marley Britt Redd, and died Thursday, April 9, 2026 at Parkwood in The Pines nursing home under Heart to Heart Hospice care.

Gertrude attended school at Cartaway Spring School and Central School. She was baptized while attending Gospel Light of Jesus Christ Church.

Gertrude loved the simple joys of life; fishing, cooking for others, and singing old hymns that filled her home with warmth and faith. Granny's home and front porch were always open to friends, neighbors, and even strangers. There was almost always a pot of coffee ready and a meal prepared for anyone who stopped by. No one ever left her home without feeling welcomed and cared for.

A devoted prayer warrior, Gert knew her Bible well and loved the LORD deeply. She took great pride in her children and grandchildren, great grandchildren and her great-great grandchildren, often saying she was truly rich in love and legacy. She was a precious friend to many, with a kind heart and a listening ear. Her warmth and faith will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Survivors include sons Mike Shumaker and wife Mary, Dale Shumaker, Gary (Tanker) Shumaker, Dennis Shumaker, Clifton Hearne and fiance Tracie Weigart; grandchildren Jason Shumaker and wife Janie, Jana Seeton and husband Kurt, Holly Williams and husband Sydney, Lindsey Davis and husband Gary, Christie Greenville, Ashley Hadaway, and Brandon Stephens, Molly Shumaker, J.W. Shumaker; sister-in-law Geneva Redd; a niece and several nephews; 14 great grandchildren, Hannah, Britt, Kasen, Brenton, Sydney, Grace, Gideon, John, Benjamin, Kenzie, Brianna, Chelsea, Chandler, Kenton, and Ashton, and 6 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by husbands James Burris (Bud) Shumaker and Ray Hearne; brothers David Redd, Jim Redd, Marrion Redd, Ancel Redd; daughter Linda Shumaker; daughter-in-law Brenda Shumaker; and great grandson Brody Shumaker.

The family will receive friends and guests on Monday, April 13, 2026 at Gipson Funeral Home from 1:00-2:00 PM. A funeral service will follow immediately at 2:00 PM.

Gertrude will be laid to rest in Durham Cemetery in Pollok, Texas.
