

Linwood D. Havard, Sr., 93, of Huntington, was born March 22, 1917 in Manning, Texas, the son of the late Martha Taressa (Pouland) and Charles Daily Havard. He passed away Thursday, January 27, 2011 in a local hospice facility.
Mr. Havard was a long time resident of Huntington. He was retired from the United States Army and Lufkin Industries. Linwood was a World War II veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart. He was the youngest and last living of 18 children, 13 of whom survived infancy. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Huntington.
Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Linda Havard and Linwood Jr. and Sharon Havard; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and David Adams; grandchildren, Troy Cee and Ylina Havard, Victor Lee and Jennifer Havard, Kip Dee and Paula Havard, Linwood Sherman Havard, Kimberly and Matt Helgren and Mandi Monk; 13 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Mrs. Havard was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Annise M. Havard; and 17 siblings.
Pallbearers will be Kip Havard, Victor Lee Havard, Len Havard, Michael Havard, Sherman Havard and Troy Havard.
Services for Mr. Havard will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at First Baptist Church in Huntington with Dr. Darryl Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
