Louise Luna

Mass of the Christian Burial for Louise "Momo" Rodrigues Luna, 85, of Lufkin, will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 7, 2012 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with Father Raymundo Garcia and Deacon Ray Vance officiating. Interment will follow in the Moral Cemetery in Nacogdoches.

Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Friday evening in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with the family receiving friends and loved ones from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Mrs. Luna was born February 21, 1926 in Nacogdoches, Texas, the daughter of the late Annie (Ramos) and Alex Rodrigues. She passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2012 in a local hospital.

Mrs. Luna was a homemaker. She loved her family and enjoyed cooking for them. She also enjoyed working in her yard, tending her flowers, listening to music and dancing. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic minister.

Survivors include her loving husband of 63 years, Robert Luna of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Deborah Luna of Lufkin; daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Kenneth Carroll, Diana and Steve Lightfoot and Deidra and Keith Brasuell, all of Lufkin, and Dolores and Cecil Smith of Fultondale, Alabama; grandchildren, Tisha and Jason Carroll, Chris and Brett Luna, Nick Brasuell, Katie Lightfoot, and Pete and Shelbi Smith; great-grandchildren, Christa Luna, Paisley Smith, and Tasha and Todd Smith; sister and brother-in-law, Tommie and Arnold Montes of Lufkin; sister, Caroline Rodrigues of Nacogdoches; brother and sister-in-law, Alex Jr. and Jeanette Rodrigues of Lufkin; sister-in-law, Viola Rodrigues; and a number of other family members and friends.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Luna was preceded in death by her brothers, Frank Rodrigues, Henry Rodrigues and John Rodrigues; and sisters, Josephine Lazarine and Mary Jane Cruze.

Pallbearers will be Jason Carroll, Pete Smith, Chris Luna, Nick Brasuell, Arnold Montes, Harvey Lazarine and Frank Rodrigues, Jr.

Memorial contributions in Mrs. Luna's memory may be made to St. Patrick Catholic School, 2118 Lowery, Lufkin, Texas 75901.
