Mary Estelle Goodson

Services for Mary Estelle (Simmons) Goodson, 92, of Pollok, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 31, 2014 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. A. D. Musinger officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Wells, TX.

Mrs. Goodson was born March 20, 1922 in Newton County, TX, daughter of the late Jane (Smith) and Sam Simmons. She passed away March 28, 2014 in a local hospice facility.

Mrs. Goodson was a devoted Christian and was a member of a Missionary Baptist Church.

She is survived by son, Jimmie Carroll Goodson of Pollok; grandson, James Clyde Goodson and wife, Maria of Lufkin; grandson, Danny Jones and wife, Melissa; granddaughter, Debbie Castle and husband, Kevin, all of League City; great-grandchildren, Jaclyn Perez, James Goodson, II, Alana and Cesia Goodson, Adison and Carson Jones and Dylan Castle; daughter-in-law, Elaine Whitehead; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents; she is preceded in death by husband, James Clyde Goodson; son, Joe Ben; daughter, Geneva Ann; brothers, Ramsey, Leon, Billy, Alson and Raymond Simmons; sisters, Alma Goodson, Clara Bell Lewis, Agnes Reynolds, Dora Ruzic and Lydia Bush.

The family wishes to express thanks to the staff and inpatient staff of Hospice in the Pines, especially Bridget and Katie; and special friend, Nanette Chapman.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Monday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
