Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at St. Patrick Catholic Church for Mary Jo Johnson, with Reverend Paul G. Rainville, M.S., celebrant. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m. Monday evening in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel.
Mrs. Johnson, 76, of Lufkin, was born September 2, 1933 in Nacogdoches County, Texas, the daughter of the late Mary Jane (Ramos) and Frank Tomez. She passed away Friday, May 7, 2010 in a Huntington nursing facility.
Mrs. Johnson was a retired secretary for Perco Distributors and The Medicine Shoppe. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Tena and Jeff Swearingen of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Melvin C. Jr. (Chopper) and Donna Johnson of Lufkin; grandchildren, Kyle Swearingen, Clint Swearingen, Katie McAfee, Clark Johnson, Holly Johnson, Steven Kelley, Karen Bush and Dee Raines; brothers, Ennis Tomez of Lufkin, Raymond Tomez of Huntington and Patrick Tomez of Hudson; sisters, Jeanette Neal of Lufkin and Ruby Johnson of Waskom; and a number of other family members.
Pallbearers will be Steven Kelley, Keith Bush, Matthew Bush, Gabe Guijarro, Timmy Vardeman and Norris Johnson.
