

Services for Paul James (P J) Reavis, 83, of Lufkin, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 12, 2015 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Horace Fletcher officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
P J was born in Claremore, Oklahoma on October 19, 1931, the son of the late Floyd Wallace Reavis and Leva Reavis. He passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at his residence.
Mr. Reavis served in the United States Navy from 1950 to 1954. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin with a BBA in Business in 1958. In high school, his nickname was “Gatsby” because he had a car like Gatsby. Mr. Reavis resided in Lufkin most of his life, where he owned and operated Sullivan Packing Co., King Putt Park, and Joy Sales. He was a very generous and giving man who would not let you pay for a meal. He was also known as a very intelligent and knowledgeable man. There wasn’t much he didn’t know. He had a knack for figuring things out and fixing almost anything. Paul was a well-loved man and was thought highly of by everyone who knew him.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Chanda Reavis; grandchildren, Brandon Reavis and wife Jaye and Cortni Davis and husband Kyle; great-granddaughters, Audrey Reavis, Bailey, Kylee and Kynlie Davis; and sister, Jane Ruggles.
Pallbearers will be David Johnson, Bill Campbell, Cody Kennedy, Jason Harris, Mitchell Conner and Carl Partin.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Reavis was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Reavis; and his son, Paul Randall (Randy) Reavis.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
