

Dr. Smith was born June 21, 1925 in Glasgow, Kentucky, the son of the late Christine (Taylor) and Paul Smith. He peacefully passed away Friday, August 14, 2015 in Lufkin, surrounded by his family.
After serving in the Air Force during WWII, Dr. Smith graduated from Logan Chiropractic College in 1951 and had a thriving, compassionate Chiropractic practice in Lufkin for 25 years. An avid learner and natural-born teacher, he was an inspiration to those around him. Dr. Smith was a pioneer in health and healing, and many people and animals were profoundly affected by his healing hands and his intuitive methods.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Betty Smith of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Carole and Bob Brown of Brownsville, son and daughter-in-law, Lynn and Sarah Smith of Driftwood; grandchildren, Bobby Owen of Rowlett, James Caldwell of Dallas, Kristi Naval of Chugiak, Alaska, Jodie Smith of Oakland, California, Kerry Smith of Austin, Vincent Smith of Huntington, Ashley Gulley of Lufkin, Rob Smith of Cary, Illinois and Shelby Smith of Port Barrington, Illinois; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Dr. B. Warren Smith of Titusville, Florida and numerous treasured others.
In addition to his parents, Dr. Smith was preceded in death by 2 sons, Woody Gene Smith and Joe Craig Smith, and brother, Douglas Smith.
