

Mass of the Christian Burial for Rosa Lee Lazarine, 93, of Lufkin, will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 14, 2016 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with Father Gavin Vaverek, M.S., celebrant. Interment will follow in the Moral Cemetery in Nacogdoches County.
Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Sunday evening in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with the family receiving friends and loved ones from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Mrs. Lazarine was born August 4, 1923 in Nacogdoches County, Texas. She passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at her residence.
Mrs. Lazarine was raised in the Moral Community. At a young age, she worked in the fields and cooked. In 1945, she married Clarence Lazarine and made their home in Lufkin. Texas. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved her family and her Lord Jesus Christ. She loved to pray. She enjoyed cooking and made the best hot tamales. Everything she made was delicious. She also enjoyed working in her garden and yard. She loved music, sewing and John Wayne movies. Mrs. Lazarine was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and believed in God and prayer.
Survivors include her daughters, JoAnn Lee of Lufkin and Jane Barbey of Nacogdoches; grandson, Chris Lee of Lufkin; granddaughters, Michelle Barbey, Angela Barbey, Taylor Barbey, all of Nacogdoches; great-grandsons, Damon Garner and Daylon Fields of Nacogdoches; great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Edwards of Nacogdoches; brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Betty Solise of Nacogdoches; sisters and brothers-in-law, Louise and Orville Ward of Spring and Grace and Armond Odom of Teneha; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Mrs. Lazarine was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Clarence Lazarine; parents, Simon and Mary Solise; sisters, Mary Hardwick and Anne Deem; and brothers, Richard Solise, Henry Solise, Clayton Solise, Pat Solise and Mike Solise.
Pallbearers will be Alan Pack, Damon Garner, Daylon Fields, Johnny Turner, Jimmy Patterson and John Barbey.
Mrs. Lazarine’s family wishes to thank the aides and nurses of Kamcare Home Health and Hospice in the Pines for the loving care shown to her.
