

Sandra Kay (Wallin) Leinart, 73, of Lufkin, the daughter of the late Pauline (Taylor) and Daniel J. Wallin, was born July 14, 1938 in Bryan, Texas and passed away August 17, 2011 in a local hospice facility.
Mrs. Leinart graduated from Terrell High School in 1956 and attended TCU, where she was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority and graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education in 1959. She married Wyatt Leinart of Terrell in 1959. She later earned a Master's Degree in Education from Stephen F. Austin.
She was a pioneer in the field of teaching dyslexic students at St. Cyprian's School in Lufkin for ten years. She then went into teaching first grade for the Lufkin Independent School District for 25 years.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lufkin, where she had taught children's Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Junior League of Lufkin, a past president of the Lufkin Lioness Club and was a member of the Study Club.
She was a devoted Christian and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be remembered as always having a true compassion for everyone she met and, as a result, she touched and influenced many lives.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Wyatt W. Leinart; son, Brad Leinart of Little Rock, Arkansas; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Leinart and Tod Six of Farmer's Branch; grandchildren, Andrea and Ashley Six; sisters, Dinah Bearden of Plano, Letyr Majors of Tyler; sister-in-law, Anita Faubion of Austin; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorials in Mrs. Leinart's memory may be made to the Salvation Army, 412 S. Third Street, Lufkin, TX 75901 and Hospice In The Pines, 1504 W. Frank, Lufkin, TX 75904.
Services for Mrs. Leinart will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 20, 2011 in the Henderson Chapel of Lufkin's First United Methodist Church with Jack Shoultz and Rev. D. Nick Sholars officiating.
