Shirley Jean "Jeannie" Joiner

Services for Shirley Jean "Jeannie" Joiner, 67, of Lufkin, were held on Sunday, November 3, 2012 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Jerry Young officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Jeannie was born May 5, 1945 in Center, Texas, the daughter of the late Lela (Phillips) and Oran Williams, Sr. She passed away Monday, October 29, 2012 in a local hospital.

Jeannie was a devoted wife and caregiver to her husband Eddie. She was very active in the Angelina County Republican Chapter as well as on the state level. She was a charter/founding member of Jubilee Baptist Church of Diboll. She enjoyed collecting bells from her travels.

Survivors include her husband, Eddie Joiner of Lufkin; stepson and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Tammy Joiner of Spring; stepdaughters and sons-in-law, Vicky and Bill Fincher and Kathy and DeWayne Collins, all of Lufkin; stepson, Danny Joiner; numerous step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; brother, Rick Wigginton and wife Judy of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Jim Green of Center, Texas; niece, Tina Williams and husband Kenton Webb of Tucson, Arizona; nephew, Oran Williams III of Panama City Beach, Florida; cousin, Marlene and her husband Billy Lott; and a number of other family members and friends.

In addition to her parents, Jeannie was preceded in death by her brother, Oran Williams, Jr.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jeannie's memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 304 N. Raguet, Suite C, Lufkin, TX 75904.

Pallbearers were Jerry Joiner, Trey Joiner, Michael Murphy, Leonard Lout, Jr., and Austin Haddox.

Honorary pallbearers were Billy Lott and Dean Joiner.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
