

Mr. Nicholson was a good Christian man and a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He worked for Sante Fe Railroad for ten years and then joined the Army and served in the Korean Conflict. Mr. Nicholson was a barber and, after moving to the Lufkin area in 1958, worked at and later owned the Palace Barber Shop. He also owned and operated the Judson Center Barber Shop and the Gaslight Barber Shop. He always had activities going on. He did volunteer work, repaired friends' equipment and managed rental property. He was still going to the local hospitals and nursing homes to cut people's hair. He was a member of Herty Church of Christ. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy Nicholson; son, Brent Nicholson; daughter, Pamula Nicholson, all of Lufkin; grandchildren, Colton Brent Nicholson, Clara Ashlee Nicholson, Pressley Sheyanne Nicholson; sister, Iva Neal Enman of Coppell, Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Billy Emanis of Duson, LA; sister-in-law, Muriel Nicholson of Beaumont; a number of nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Maxie Hamilton Nicholson.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Lawson, Bobby Whisenant, Gerald Forsythe, Tommy Wells, Don Keen and Billy Kitchens.
Honorary pallbearers will be Iris Capps, Johnnie Bittick, Mike Capps, Kieth Jones, Glenn Atteberry, Eugene Crawford, Burnice Blackstock, Ray Jayroe and Ross Hooker
Services for Mr. Nicholson will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 19, 2011 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Luther Bolenbarker, Evangelist and Mr. Dean Bullock, Evangelist officiating. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
