

Services for Gaston Meadows, 95, of Lufkin, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 22, 2016 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Mark Newton officiating and Reverend Mike Meadows assisting. Interment will follow in the Berry Cemetery.
Mr. Meadows was born July 24, 1920 in Angelina County, Texas, the son of the late Ethel Dell (McCoy) and William Tom Meadows. He passed away Monday, January 18, 2016 in a local hospice facility.
Gaston was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was retired from Southern Pacific Railroad as a locomotive engineer following more than 40 years of employment. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. Mr. Meadows served in the United States Army during World War II in the 7th Division and the 17th regiment. He was a member of Lufkin’s First Baptist Church and the Berean Sunday School Class.
Gaston had been a member of the Lufkin Masonic Lodge #669 A.F. & A.M. and received his Master’s Degree in February 1953. His other Masonic affiliations include Lufkin, Chapter #240 Royal Arch Masons, Lufkin Council #176 Royal & Select Masters, Lufkin Commandry #88 Knights Templar and Sharon Temple of the Shrine in Tyler.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Reverend Mike and Cathie Meadows of Boerne; son-in-law, William Maxey of Paradise Valley, Arizona; 4 grandchildren, Robert, Dana and husband Bill, Laura, and Chris and wife Heather; 3 great-grandchildren, John Paul, Mallory and Jacob; sister-in-law, Patsy Meadows of Lufkin; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
In addition to his parents, Gaston was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Jackie Meadows on November 1, 2012; his daughter, Diane Maxey; 2 brothers; and 1 sister.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Meadows, Bill Maxey, Rob Maxey, Chris Meadows, David Vansau and Randy Meadows.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Berean Sunday School Class of Lufkin’s First Baptist Church.
Memorial contributions in Gaston’s memory may be made to Lufkin’s First Baptist Church, 106 E. Bremond, Lufkin, TX 75901; or to the Berry Cemetery Association, 4770 FM 842, Lufkin, TX 75901.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
