I miss you Daddy.  It is so hard without you....now more than ever.  It has been a year now.  You have a new great grandbaby girl born March 21st (she came early).  Her name is Hazel Mae and she and Andi are doing fine.  All of your great grandchildren are doing good.  Liam remembers you even though he was only a year old when you left us.  He went up to your picture and pointed to you and said, "Paw Paw, Paw Paw.....THERE HE IS!"  We all miss you.  Abbi and Weston say they wish you were still here so you could hold them.  I love you. "Wild Bill' was a mighty fine, hard workin, honest, man. He told me, if you cant be yourself, you cant be happy. Also farmed at 88, served our country. Knew alot about women, And said no one ever listens to me. I did Bill, wish I would have more. Now he n my Dad will fish together with the "Good Lord". Thank you for all you told others of me. William Glenn Hendry was my Pawpaw.  I have never known and am confident I will never find another human being like him.  He truly was an original, the last of a dying breed.  Growing up in the Great Depression and going to war made him strong.  He was a tough old bear of a man, but as hardened as he was, he was also just as loving.  I will remember his songs and his stories.  Our fishing and camping trips.  The smell of denim and tobacco, and the rough brisk pat on the head I got every time I ever hugged him.  I will always remember the song he sang me when we said goodbye.  "I love you a bushel and a peck, and a hug around the neck.  Adios, so long, goodbye, don't forget me now."  And I will never forget him for as long as I walk this Earth.  He will be with me always.  In the clouds in the sky, the stars at night, and the wind that blows around me.  He will continue to live on in our hearts and memories, and through his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, the two great-grandsons who carry his name.  There is no other pain like saying goodbye to someone you love forever.  There is no word adequate to describe the unbearable aching you feel.  But as heartbroken as I am to say goodbye, I am also indescribably greatful to have had such a man as my grandfather.

William Glenn Hendry was my father and stood by me unconditionally for 62 years.  I was my honor to help care for him this last year as he fought his toughest battle with cancer.  He was in the Navy Air Corp, and received a letter from President Truman for his service.  He held a Bachelor of Science degree from Stephen F. Austin State University.  He was the best father a girl could ever hope to have.  If he saw someone in a situation that he felt was not being handled properly, he would say, "well, they're pulling that little red wagon."  I will always have a huge hole in my heart where his physical presence resided.  Now I will fill that hold with the memory of him.  He was strong and upright.  He grew up in the great depression, and told of stories of using a vanilla bottle as a toy car.  He meant the world to me and I will never forget his words of kindness and the love he had for me.  He loved his grandchildren; and he always said he wanted to live long enough for them to know him.  Daddy, you will never be forgotten, and you will always be loved.  I know you are in Heaven now; and, the Good Lord willin', I will see you later.  Don't forget me now.  I love you.

My grandfather was a mountain of a man who always had a story to tell.I miss him more than I can describe. He has been there almost my whole life his loss is the hardest thing I have ever faced. He was my constant. My rock.

William G. Hendry was my father and I loved him dearly. I have no words to express my sorrow but want to share a poem that touched my heart. 

"God saw you getting tired
and a cure was not to be
so he put his arms around you
and whispered,
"Come to Me"

With tearful eyes we watched you
and saw you pass away
and although we love you dearly
we could not make you stay.

A Golden heart stopped beating
hard working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best"

I didn't know Mr. Hendry very well personally, but always heard about him through Marlin and Barbara!  The one thing that always stands out in my mind, is the corn that he grew and sent with Marlin to my Mom and Dad.  It was the best! And then I remember Barbara telling me how sweet he was to shell the peas for her because she hated that task!  I know you all will miss him!  My prayers are with you all at this time.
