

Our beloved mother, Bonnie Marie Coogan, of Saugus, formerly from Lynn age 78, passed away on Friday evening April 3, 2026, after a lengthy battle with diabetes. Born and raised in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Rita Doward and George Doward. She was the beloved wife of Peter Coogan with whom she shared 58 years of marriage.
Bonnie worked at one of the oldest shoe making factories in the history of Lynn, Dori Shoe Company. Bonnie was a foster mother for several children including children with disabilities. Bonnie was so passionate about caring for others which led to her job as an assistant director at Bridgewell, working with disabled adults. Bonnie loved listening to the oldies, while she crocheted beautiful blankets for loved ones. She loved to make beautiful diamond art pictures for her grandchildren. Bonnie loved to sit with all her grandbabies every holiday making arts and crafts. She also loved being with her family and all her beloved pets more than anything.
Bonnie is survived by her sister, Frances P. Coogan, daughters, Lisa Magnarelli and Catherine Meggison, son Peter Coogan Jr. and foster daughter, Honor Marie Warden. She also leaves her grandchildren, Leighanne Magnarelli, Richie Magnarelli, Sarrie Lawrence, Krista Plourde, Jeffrey Meggison, Sophia McQueeney, Andrea Hoskins, Katelynn Morehouse, Briana Lowe and Haileigh Pillot. In addition, she leaves her great grandchildren, Alexa, Jaedyn, Bailee, Braydon, Dylan, Ryan, Makinley, Jakob, Harper, Lincoln, Veronica, Jacob, Kano, Kinsley, Eliza, and Olive.
The family wants to give thanks to the hardworking nurses and doctors of Mass General Hospital in Boston who cared for Bonnie.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, April 9, 2026 from 4 PM to 7 PM in the Cuffe-McGinn McGinn Funeral Home in Lynn.
