Cory G. Young

Born in Lynn, Cory was the son of the late Garth D. Young, Janet (Bloom) Weldon, and his stepfather Richard “Pops” Weldon.

He was the devoted father of Matthew Yeomans, Jared Young, Olivia Young, Emily Young and Liliana Young, the dear brother of Todd Vigeant and the late Mark Vigeant. He is also survived by his favorite cousin, Heather Bloom, who took care of him until the day he passed, and several nieces and nephews, including Tyler Vigeant, Markis Vigeant, and Bryson Vigeant.

He grew up in Lynn, graduating from Lynn Vocational and Technical High School, class of 1988. He raised his family in Beverly and was the owner of Young Plastering, he took a lot of pride in his work as a plasterer. He was a dedicated member of Alcoholics Anonymous and on May 1, 2023, he achieved his final wish of reaching ten years of continuous sobriety.

Cory had a tough exterior, but he was a sensitive and caring person if you had the chance to truly know him. He helped many people in and out of the halls of AA, and even in the end, made it a priority to attend his, “Do It Sober” 4 o’clock meetings in Lynn. He cherished his time spent with family and friends but most importantly, Cory loved being a father, whether it was Sunday morning breakfast, going fishing, playing Yahtzee, attending his twin girls’ track meets, or eating chicken piccata or his “supah” beef with cheese, pickle, and mayo.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn.
