Diane L. Ward

Diane L. (Chipman) Ward, age 75, of Nahant, passed away on Monday, October 14, 2024. She was the beloved wife of the late Gerald W. Butler, with whom she shared 1 year of marriage and 39 years of partnership.

Born and raised in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Elizabeth (Bird) Chipman. Diane was a resident of Nahant for the last 37 years, and worked at Jesmond Nursing Home for 22 years as a Nurse’s Aide until her retirement.

She was the stepmother of Alanna Guptill, Tara Butler, Heather Cook, and Michael Nichol; and their children Emily Pauli, Sarah Cook, Parker Cook, Aiden Carrasco, and Amelia Carrasco. She is also survived by her sister Judith Ridlon, brother in law Charlie Tracchia, nieces and nephews, Bruce Chipman and his wife Sherry, Peter Tracchia, Amy Tracchia, Phillip Tracchia, Kelly Ridlon Jeul and her husband Chris, Robert Ridlon and his wife Lisa, Bruce Ridlon, and Karen Ridlon; and her great-niece and nephews, Michael Tracchia, Charlotte Ridlon, and Robert Ridlon, Jr. In addition to her parents and her husband, Diane is predeceased by her sister Donna Tracchia and her brother Robert Chipman.

A Visitation for Diane will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn. Her Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nahant.
