Daughter of the late Lawrence and Maude Brown. As well as Doris Rita Brown.
She grew up in Lynn, graduated from Essex Aggie, and raised her family in Swampscott. She worked at Plaza Beauty Center in Lynn before becoming its proud owner for the last 10 years of her career. She then moved into working at nursing homes as a hairstylist.
She loved her family more than anything in this world. A true matriarch of her family. Her doors were always open to anyone who needed a warm place to stay and a warm meal in their bellies. She was known as Ma or Nana to not only her family but to everyone who walked through her doors. Cooking was a passion of hers, always cooking for an army and with the most love. Doris enjoyed her summer nights in her backyard, sipping on a glass of wine, having girl talk with her best friends Mary, Diane, and Linda. The real life Golden Girls.
Doris is the devoted mother of Patricia Clarke and her husband George, Kenneth Smith and his wife Tara, Jocelyn Smith, and Lori Pivacek; the cherished grandmother of Valerie Harper, Dana Clarke and his wife Kaitlyn, Matthew Clarke and his wife Angela, Christopher and Cody Lovering, Taya and Andrew Smith, and Gina Pivacek; the cherished great grandmother of Reece Harper, Cameron and Mackenzie Clarke, and Lucas Clarke; and the loving sister of Lawrence Brown and his wife Carlene, Ann Curran and her husband Joseph.
In addition to her parents, Doris was predeceased by her brother Theodore McCormick, and her daughters Patricia Clarke and Lori Pivacek.
Friends and family are invited to Doris’s visitation on Thursday, March 21, 2024 from 10:00 AM to Noon at Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn. A funeral service will follow at Noon. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
