Dorothy M. Garland

Dorothy was born in Lynn, the daughter of the late Leo F. and Mary C. (Wall) Gleason. A graduate of St. Mary’s High School and Burdett College, Dorothy lived in the family home in Swampscott for over 85 years.

She was Past President of the Arrangers of Marblehead, a member of the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts Landscape Design Council and a Master Flower Show Judge Emeritus.

She is survived by her two daughters, Susan Garland Murphy and her husband Paul of Sturbridge and Paula Lee Garland and her companion Richard W. Henlotter of Marblehead. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Gleason of Swampscott, two granddaughters, Caitlin Elizabeth and her husband Paul J. Lonergan, Jr. of Plymouth, MA and Hillary Rose Murphy of West Brookfield. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Leo F. and John E. Gleason.

Dorothy’s funeral will be from the CUFFE-McGINN FUNERAL HOME 157 Maple St. Lynn on Saturday at 8:30 AM. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. John the Evangelist Church, Swampscott at 9:30 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Friday from 4-8 PM. Interment will be in Swampscott Cemetery.
