

Mrs. Florence Marilyn (Patten) Bonin, age 93, died on Sunday, December 6, 2015 at her daughter Linda’s home after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. She was the wife of the late Robert J. “Bob” Bonin who died on November 4, 2015 with whom they shared 73 years of marriage. She and Bob were married on August 2, 1942 in St. Joseph’s Church, Lynn. Born in Malden, she was the daughter of the late Percy and Irene ( Sawyer) Patten. She lived in Lynn for most of her life and graduated from Lynn English High School, Class of 1940. She formerly worked for F.W. Woodworth, General Electric, and twenty years for the Kilgore Insurance Company. She loved music, reading, and was a prolific letter writer to family and friends in the states as well as in France. Her greatest love was just being a mom and taking care of her children. She was also a foster mother to numerous children. She leaves her four children Robert C. Bonin and his wife Nancy, Linda M. (Smallis) Towey and her husband John, Gale M. Bettinger and John J. Bonin, her eight grandchildren Nikolette Bonin, Peter Bonin and his wife Rebecca, Danielle Bonin, Michael Bonin, David Bettinger, Jr. and his wife Michelle, Denise Bettinger, Christopher Foster and Jake Foster, six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Frederick G. Patten and a sister Sharon (Patten) Brotherson. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the hospice team for there love and care. A visitation will be held on Friday morning from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM in the CUFFE-McGINN Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn, followed by a funeral Mass in St. Pius V Church, Lynn at 10 AM. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan Street, Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.
