

LYNN - Gale Baxter Moody, “the Giant”, 86, a lifelong resident of Lynn, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home on Wednesday, December 26, 2018. Gale was the beloved husband of his high school sweetheart, the late Ruth (Ames) Moody with whom he shared 58 years of marriage until she passed in June, 2009.
Born in Lynn, on August 11, 1932, Gale was the son of the late Howard and Gladys (Baxter) Moody. He was the loving father of his 2 daughters and caregivers, Elaine Fedas and her husband, Charles and Dianne Pohlmeyer and her husband, Mike, all of Lynn, the late Glenn Moody and the late Dean Moody; the cherished grandfather of Kristine Moody, April Moody and Ben Ciampoli, Matthew Fedas and his wife Sarah, John and Lauren Pohlmeyer and the late Glenn Moody, Jr.; the adoring great-grandfather of Amelia Ciampoli and soon to be arriving, Julia Fedas; the dear brother of the late Wayne and Howard Moody; the uncle of Darlene, Donna and Sandra Moody and their families of Texas; and the best friend of the late Donnie McCormick.
Gale graduated from Lynn English High School with the class of 1951. He went to work for G.E at the River Works in Lynn at the age 18 to support his young family and retired after 40 years at the age of 58. Gale enjoyed having a few beers and telling his silly jokes; he liked a good poker game, loved college & pro football, playing Keno, sailing, swimming and weightlifting when he was a younger man. He would tell his family of the times when he and his brothers would swim Flax Pond when they lived on Pine Point Road.
Gale’s funeral service will be held on Friday, January 4th at 1:00 p.m. at the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St., Lynn. Burial of his ashes will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. Visiting hours will be on Friday, January 4th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m prior to the service in the funeral home.
