

George W. Lewis 85, lifelong resident of Lynn, passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at Rockingham County Nursing Home in Brentwood, NH. He was the husband of the late Mary (Flynn) Lewis. Born on December 11, 1930 in Lynn, he was the son of the late Arthur and Lillie (Small) Lewis. Mr. Lewis was raised and educated in Lynn and graduated from Lynn Vocational High School and had also attended Northeastern University in Boston. He served his country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War and was honorably discharged. He worked in Quality Control at GE in Lynn for many years retiring in 1992.
He was a member of the William P. Connery, Jr. Post 6 American Legion in Lynn and was also a member of the Masonic Lodge of the Golden Rule AF & AM in Wakefield.
He is survived by his sons; Robert A. Lewis and his wife Joan, John W. Lewis and his wife Jennifer and Michael S. Lewis. He also leaves 4 grandchildren Mark P. Lewis, Michelle A. Secor, Amanda McNeil and Rebecca Lewis as well as 3 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his beloved wife, he was also predeceased by his sisters, Barbara Mann and Arlene Martino.
Mr. Lewis’ funeral service will be held on Monday at 10:00 am in the Cuffe McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Sunday from 1-4pm.
