

Gertrude M. (Chamberlain) Duvall, a long-time resident of Lynn, passed away surrounded by her family on Friday, October 20, 2017 in the Life Care Center of the North Shore at the age of 85. Born in Knox, ME on January 25, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Lottie (Steeves) Chamberlain. Gertie was raised and educated in Lynn. After school, Gertrude enlisted into the US Navy on October 8, 1952 to help fight during the Korean War. She was honorably discharged from duty on May 4, 1956 having attained the rank of SN. Gertie worked for over 25 years as a Lunch Aide for both the Highland School and the Ford School before working for the now Salem Laundry Company as an assistant for over 20 years. She was a long-time communicant of the 1st Assembly of God Church in Lynn where she enjoyed prayer, worship, and fellowship. A woman of deep faith, Gertrude loved to sing high to the Lord in praise and also devotedly read her Bible.
Gertrude leaves her children: Linda D. Bruno of MA, Charles M. “Michael” Duvall and his wife, Debra of NH, Brenda L. Duvall of Lynn, Richard G. Duvall of GA, and Marshall H. Duvall of Lynn. She also leaves 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren and was preceded in death by 3 grandchildren. Many close cousins also survive.
A Memorial Funeral Service will be held in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St. Lynn, on Saturday, October 28th at 3 pm. Visiting Hours will be held two hours prior to the service from 1 to 3 pm.
