

Harold D. “Woody” Wood, 93, a lifelong resident of Lynn, passed away, Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at the Chelsea Soldiers Home. He was the beloved husband of Nancy A. (Vasi) Wood of Lynn. He was born in Lynn, MA on December 5, 1921, son of the late Leslie and Alison (Davies) Wood. He was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School, class of 1942. He served as a Military Police Officer in the Army during WWII and worked as a bus driver for the Eastern Massachusetts and Massachusetts Bay Transit Authorities for 38 years prior to his retirement. He belonged to the MBTA Bowling League at the Metro Bowl in Peabody. He was an avid card player, swimmer, and Red Sox fan and enjoyed traveling with his wife, especially to Las Vegas. Woody was extremely good natured, loved children and his family and helped whomever he could throughout his life. Mr. Wood was also the loving father of Bruce Wood and his wife, Diane of Gloucester and Barry Wood of Peabody; the cherished grandfather of Gavin Wood and his wife, Lindsey of Gloucester; the dear brother of Leslie Wood of Peabody, and the late Beatrice Girard and Virginia Powers; the brother-in-law of Marlene and her husband Kenneth Eddy of Lynn; and the uncle of several nieces and nephews. He also leaves two special boys, Thomas and Drew Daniels of Lynn.
Visiting hours on Monday morning from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon in the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St. Lynn followed by a Funeral Service at 12:00 Noon in the funeral home. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn.
