Helen Elizabeth Clinton, “Betty” as she was known by her loved ones, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2024. She was 92 years old. Born February 23, 1932 in Swampscott, Massachusetts and raised in Lynn. She graduated from Saint Mary’s High School, pursued a career as a nurse anesthetist, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Salem State University.
She is survived by her brother, Raymond M. Clinton and his wife, Paula; her sister-in-law Ann Clinton (wife of her deceased brother Thomas E. Clinton Sr.); her niece Suzanne and her nephews Thomas, Neil, Martin, and John; her grandnephews Tyler, Connor, and Cameron and her grandnieces Molly, Saoirse, and Aoife. Helen was a life-long learner and traveler. When she was not crisscrossing the globe, she could be found spending time with her family to whom she was deeply devoted. She was an accomplished baker who delighted in the precise nature of measuring, mixing, and assembling pastry, cookies and cake.
She was a voracious reader, a quiet intellectual, and unabashed pragmatist – always providing reasoned judgment in a calm and collected manner.
Betty’s Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, June 21, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, 174 Humphrey Street, Swampscott, followed by internment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Lynn.
