

Helen B. Glidden, age 92, of Lynn, MA died peacefully in the company of her family on Sunday, December 24, 2017. Helen was the wife of the late Edward P. Glidden, with whom she shared 57 years of marriage. She was born in Lynn to Frederick and Mary (Casey) Blair, and graduated from St. Mary Girls’ High School and Boston College. As a student, she received numerous academic awards including Catholic school and state spelling and debate championships. She was a lifetime educator, teaching secondary and university levels in Massachusetts, Ohio and Florida. She was a devout communicant at St. Joseph, St. Mary and St. Pius V and was active in parish life. Helen was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother, who enjoyed times with her family and friends. She was particularly fond of animals, and provided safe and loving homes for a great many adopted pets.
Helen is survived by her children: Francis X. Glidden and his wife Dawn of Lynn, Maryellen Beaulieu and her husband James of Maine, Joanne D. Glidden of Lynn, Thomas H. Glidden of Lynn. Helen was the mother of the late Edward Peter and Margaret Ann Glidden. She was the grandmother to Amy Glidden, Gerrianne Glidden, Dr. Michelle Beaulieu, and Elizabeth Beaulieu. She was the loving sister of the late Dorothy Ladue and devoted aunt to Roberta Smith and Jerry Ladue.
Family and friends are invited to visitation on Thursday, December 28, 2017 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation at 11:00 AM at St. Pius V Church, 215 Maple Street, Lynn. Burial will follow the Mass in St. Joseph Cemetery in Lynn.
