Herman Cordy

Herman Cordy, age 89, of Lynn, passed away on Monday, April 10, 2023. Herman was born on September, 10,1933 in Augusta GA to the late Clarence and Mary Cordy. He lost his mother and brother Paul to Pneumonia at a young age, he then relocated to Harlem, NY where he was raised by his Aunt Amelia Bush.

Herman enlisted in the Army and served in the Korean War and was stationed in Pusan, South Korea where he was in charge of the dock receiving supplies for the American Soldiers.

He fathered 4 daughters from a previous marriage, Anita and Margie, and is predeceased by Janelle and Karen and has many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

On July 30, 1977, he Married Karen L. Cornell and fathered a daughter Jennifer and a son Michael and has twin grandchildren Amber and Xavier. He worked at Union Hospital as a Housekeeping Supervisor for over 50 yrs.

Herman had a passion for sports and was a well known basketball player at The Meadows in Lynn, and also loved tennis, golf and softball. He was an avid music lover and a collector of albums of all genres. He was known for his exemplary work ethic, loving demeanor, charm and his infectious smile.

Family and friends are invited to Cordy's Visitation on Monday, April 17, 2023 from 4:00 pm -8:00 pm in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn. His Funeral Service will be held the following morning at St. Stephen's Memorial Episcopal Church, 74 S Common St, Lynn at 10:00 am, please meet directly at church. Burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
