She was the wife of the late Joseph W. Roy.
Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Joseph A. and Bertha (Tremblay) Gaudreau. She lived in Lynn for most of her life before moving to Lynnfield in 2003, and Andover in 2004.
Irene volunteered at the Lynnfield Senior Center. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and sewing, and made clothes for her children and grandchildren.
Irene was the mother of Edward P. Roy of Stoneham, Phillip G. Roy of Stratford, NH, Joseph F. Roy of Milpitas, CA, and Marie L. Roy of Lynnfield. She also leaves a sister Rita Donahue of Salem, seven grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Irene was the sister of the late Arthur Gaudreau, Albert Gaudreau, Eva Gaudreau, Alice Levitte and Yvonne Roy.
Her funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9 AM from the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home 157 Maple Street, Lynn, followed by a funeral Mass in St. Pius V Church Lynn at 10 AM. Burial in St. Jean’s Cemetery. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-7 PM.
