

Mr. James M. Chalmers, age 94, of Lynnfield, formerly of Peabody and Lynn, died Wednesday, Dec. 9th in a local rehabilitation facility. He was the husband of Elaine (Zorbas) Chalmers to whom he had been married for 72 years.
Born in Somersworth, NH, he was the son of the late Michael and Diana (Makris) Chakreotes. He grew up in Lynn and graduated from Lynn Classical High School. He enjoyed spending time at his camp on Mousam Lake, Maine.
He was a tool and die maker and worked for the Universal Cutting Die Company and the Northeast Cutting Die Company both of Lynn.
He loved people and enjoyed his family and friends. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Lodge AF&AM, the Lynn Lodge of Elks, the Italian-American Civic Club, Lynn, the Board of Directors of the Lynn Housing Committee, and Board of the Greater Lynn Friends of Special Needs Citizens, Inc.
In addition to his wife, James leaves a son Michael J. Chalmers of Lynn, a sister-in-law Mary Chakreotes of Lynn, 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and his son-in-law Joseph Provanzano.
He was also the father of the late Priscilla Provanzano, father-in-law of the late Patricia Chalmers, brother of the late Thomas Chakreotes and Mary Spero, and brother-in-law of the late Skip Spero.
The funeral will be held on Monday at 9 AM from the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home 157 Maple Street, Lynn, followed by a funeral service in St. George Greek Orthodox Church Lynn at 10 AM. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Visiting hours Sunday 1-5 PM. Masonic Service by Mt. Carmel Lodge Sunday at 4:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Greater Lynn Friends of Special Needs Citizens, Inc., 72 Keslar Avenue, Lynn 01905.
