Jean M. Hill

Mrs. Jean M. (Perry) Hill, 81, of Ipswich formerly of Lynn died Monday in a local nursing home after a lengthy illness. She was the beloved wife of Retired Lynn Police Officer Robert D. Hill with whom she shared 61 years of marriage.

Jean was born in Lynn, daughter of the late Thomas and Marion (Skelton) Perry. She was a graduate of Lynn English High School Class of 1947. Jean was a resident of Lynn for most of her life until moving to Ipswich 3 years ago.

She worked at the Cookie Tree Shop for several years until her retirement. She previously worked at Star Sportswear, H.P. Hood Milk and the General Electric Company River Works.

She was a long time communicant of St. Pius V Church where she was also a member of the Sodality. Jean enjoyed playing Bingo and loved gardening. She was known for her artistic ability and creativity. Her greatest treasure was spending time with her family especially her time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had a special love for her cats.

In addition to her husband she leaves 1 son Robert K. Hill of Billerica, 2 daughters Nancy Halupowski and her husband Mark of Wakefield and Joanne Lennon and her husband Ronnie of Ipswich. 6 Grandchildren Jaime Stelmat and her husband Jason, Jennifer Lennon, Katie and Christine Hill, Lindsay and Rachael Halupowski. Also survived by 4 great grandchildren Kayla and Jayden Hill, Kailyn Stelmat and Matthew Lennon and many special nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late William and Donald Perry and Elizabeth Canney and Marjorie Berube.

Jean’s Funeral will be from the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St. Lynn on Friday at 9:30 AM. Funeral Mass will be in St. Pius V Church at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8 PM. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
