Jean Marie Soper

Jean Marie Soper, 92 of Lynn, passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at Salem Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born in Salem, the daughter of the late, Edward and Marie (Bernier) Bernard. She was the beloved wife of the late Harold Soper for 63 years.

Jean was a long-time member of The First Church of Christ in Lynn. She loved her family above all providing love, support and constant comfort. She was an avid sports fan following all the Boston teams and was a gifted seamstress, cake decorator and baker known for her whoopie pies. She loved crocheting, crafting, candlepin bowling, playing cards with her friends and getting her nails done. She looked forward to visiting her second home in Bonavista, Newfoundland, every summer and was able to visit more than 50 times.

She is survived by her children, Ron Soper and his wife Kym, Ken Soper and his wife Donna, Keith Soper and his wife Laura, and Judy Geary and her husband John. She also leaves her cherished grandchildren, Brian Soper and his wife Sheena, Cory Soper and his partner Casey, Chris Soper, Jacob Soper and his fiancé Katherine, Amelia Soper, Susannah Mota and her husband Julio, Ben Geary and his wife Theresa and Tim Geary. She also leaves her great grandchildren, Dan Soper, Abbey Soper, Kate Soper, Ryland Soper, Tristan Soper, Delilah Soper, Michael Soper and Aleida Mota. In addition, she leaves her brother-in-law, Bob Soper and his wife Linda, and many nieces and nephews who adored her. She was a devoted and loving mom, grandmother and great-grandmother (Gigi) and will be sorely missed.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Dan Soper and grandson Jeffrey Soper, along with her siblings.

A visitation will be held in the Cuffe McGinn Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 from 10-11 AM with a service to follow at 11 AM. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery in Lynn.
