

John C. Boccello, age 85 and a longtime resident of Lynn, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Avita of Newburyport. He was born on May 30, 1932 in Lynn, the son of the late Salvatore and Rosaria (Marino) Boccello. He was raised and educated in Lynn and graduated from the Lynn Trade School. John enlisted in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed in Italy. He served as an aircraft electrical gunner and was honorably discharged. John was a Master Electrician and co-owned Pat’s Electric with his brother Pat until his retirement in 1994. John loved life and enjoyed travelling. His family believes that he travelled the world at least twice. He especially loved his trips to Italy with his sister. He enjoyed games of chance and would spend hours playing cards with friends and associates at Tony’s in Lynn. He was a devoted family man and took care of both his sister, Delores when she was ill, as well as his nephew, Pat Jr. after he had suffered a stroke at an early age. John was predeceased by his brothers; Nick, Pat Charles and Carl Boccello as well as his sisters; Dolores Crevola, Madeline Varallo and Rose Tammaro. He was also predeceased by his nephew Sal’s dogs, whom he loved very much, Beanie and Bella Donna. He is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to attend John’s visitation on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 from 10 AM – 12 PM at Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn, MA 01904. Funeral services will follow the visitation at the funeral home at 12 PM. Burial with Air Force Honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery on Broadway in Lynn.
