
Born in Lynn, son of the late John F. and Mildred (Mahoney) Connelly, he lived in Lynn for most of his life. He was a Car Accountant for the Boston & Maine Railroad before entering the U.S. Postal Service as a Distribution Clerk at the main post office in Lynn, from which he retired in 1980.
He was an amateur magician and served as National Treasurer of the Society of American Magicians for a period of 20 years. He was elected to the S.A.M. Hall of Fame in 1989 and was an Honorary Life Member. He was a member of the Witch City Assembly #104 and a former member of the Boston Assembly #9.
John was a past Exalted Ruler of the Lynn Lodge of Elks #117 and was a member of the Bethlehem Lodge of Masons A.F. & A.M. He was also a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians and a former treasurer of Ring #122 of the I.B.M.
John’s Funeral Service will be held in the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St. Lynn on Monday at 11:00AM. Relatives and friends invited. Interment Puritan Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation prior to the Service beginning at 10:00AM.
