John James Divenuti

Born in Everett to the late William and Emanuella (Fidone) DiVenuti. John grew up in Everett and graduated from Everett High School in 1947 and Northeastern University in 1949. Following his education, John proudly enlisted in the United States Army and served during the Korean War. Upon the completion of his service, he and Phyllis moved to Lynn and raised their family. Throughout the years he worked as a purchasing agent for the City of Malden and then as a supervisor for the State of Massachusetts’ Auditor’s Office which he retired from in 2001.

John is survived by his daughter Joan DiVenuti, his grandsons John F. DiVenuti and Gerard DiVenuti, Jr, and his great-grandchildren Aubree DiVenuti, Jaylani DiVenuti, and John DiVenuti, III. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife Phyllis, John is predeceased by his sons Mark DiVenuti and Gerard DiVenuti, his grandson Michael DiVenuti, and his siblings Bill DiVenuti, Frank DiVenuti, George DiVenuti, Patricia Sheppard and Rose Babcock.

John’s visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn. His funeral will follow at 1:00 PM. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
