

Mrs. Karen M. (Messina) Voto, age 48, of Lynnfield, died peacefully Thursday evening in the Whidden Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving and devoted family following a lengthy illness. She was the beloved wife of Robert S. Voto, with whom she shared 24 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Everett, Karen was the proud daughter of Joseph and Josephine (Dellapiana) Messina of Everett. She was a graduate of Everett High School and attended the Somerville School of Nursing. She later attended Salem State College where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree. Karen had been a resident of Lynnfield for the past 8 years, previously residing in Everett.
Karen was the proud Nurse Manager for the Whidden Memorial Hospital in Everett. She was a nurse who not only had exceptional skills and a strong passion for the nursing profession, but was a true, caring clinician who went above and beyond her call of duty for every patient and staff member.
Karen was a wonderful, hardworking mother who gave all of her love to her children. She was also very meticulous. A very spiritual person, Karen was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Lynnfield and a strong believer in the Resurrection.
In addition to her husband and parents, Karen leaves her 3 loving children, Robert J. Voto, an accountant for Pricewater House & Cooper, proudly pursuing a Master’s Degree at Fairfield University; Michael A. Voto, a sophomore at St. Michael’s College pursuing a Degree in Business and Angela Voto, a senior at Lynnfield High School, who plans to pursue a career in nursing. Karen also leaves her brothers, Kenneth and Joseph Messina both of Everett and her sister, Marianne Richard of Lynn, a nurse at Whidden Memorial Hospital. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are kindly invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of the Assumption Church 758 Salem St. LYNNFIELD on Monday at 11:00AM. Interment will be private. Visiting Hours will be held in Our Lady of the Assumption Church on Sunday from 4-8PM. The family kindly asks that gifts in Karen’s name be sent to Our Lady of the Assumption Church 17 Grove St. Lynnfield, MA 01940. Arrangements entrusted to the care of the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home 157 Maple St. Lynn.
