

Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Louis and Margaret (Hayes) Griffin. He graduated from Lynn English High School, and lived in Lynn for the greater part of his life.
Leo was an Army veteran of WWII, was a Second Lieutenant, received the Purple Heart, and served in North Africa and Japan.
After the War, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 35 years. A supervisor, he worked out of the Lynn, Rockport and Danvers offices and retired in 1980.
He formerly worked part-time at the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home and at several other North Shore funeral homes.
For several years he was active in the East Lynn Little League.
He was a communicant of Holy Family Church, Lynn, and years ago was active at St. Joseph’s Church where he served as an Eucharistic Minister and an Usher.
He enjoyed baseball and football and was an avid Red Sox fan.
He was the father of Stephen Griffin and his wife Esther of Beverly, Gary Griffin and his wife Nancy of Essex, Terrence Griffin of Beverly, Dale Griffin and his wife Susan of New Hartford, NY, Patrick Griffin of Odessa, FL and the late Michael Griffin. He also leaves 6 grandchildren, a great-grandson, a sister-in-law Rita Griffin of Peabody and a nephew Robert Griffin of Salem. He was the brother of the late Louis and Raymond Griffin.
The funeral will be held on Thursday at 8AM from the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home 157 Maple Street, Lynn. Funeral Mass in Holy Family Church Lynn at 9 AM. Burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Lynn. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-7 PM.
