

Born in Swampscott, Leon was the son of the late Frank P. and Marie I. (St. Arneault) Vercellone. He attended Lynn Schools and resided in Lynn for many years before moving to Haverhill 17 years ago.
Prior to his retirement, Leon spent many years as a machinist and laborer for Eastman Gelatin in Peabody. He previously worked as a welder for the Quincy Shipyard.
Leon was a former member of the Italian-American Club of Peabody and the former Broadway United Methodist Church of Lynn. He enjoyed reading, traveling, shopping and crossword puzzles.
He leaves his children, Ronald L. Vercellone of Bradford, Maria E. Costanzo of Haverhill, David S. Vercellone and his wife Irene of Haverhill and Cheri B. Smith and her husband James D. of Melrose. He was the brother of Frank Vercellone and his wife Donna of Peabody. Loving Grandfather of Elena, Anthony, Emma and Sofia. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours for Leon will be held in the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St. Lynn on Wednesday from 4-7PM followed by a Memorial Service at 7:00PM. Relatives and friends invited. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be sent to Merrimack Valley Nutrition Project, 57 River Rd. Andover, MA 01810.
