It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Luisa Marie Laboy. After a hard-fought battle with leukemia, Luisa answered His call on October 19th, 2025. She is survived by her parents Marjorie and Moises Laboy, her siblings Moises and Briana Laboy; her grandparents Carmen Velazquez, Rafael Velazquez, and Moises Laboy Sr.; her aunts and uncles Iliana and John Galvan, James “Lou” Loynd, Jocelin Ayala, Jennifer and Roberto Espinosa, Josue Laboy, and honorary auntie and uncle Valerie and John Digney; her besties Abbey Hollaway and Eli Sok; and her furry family Berry, Pepperoni, and Sunshine. She is also survived by many cousins and dear friends and predeceased by her aunt and godmother Karen Velazquez Loynd and her grandmother Maria Laboy.
Luisa was born on April 28th, 2005, in Salem, MA. She was raised in Lynn, MA where she attended Washington Stem Elementary School, Breed Junior High School, and graduated from Lynn Technical High school in 2023. Until her high school graduation, Luisa was a proud member of Girls, Inc of Lynn. There, she not only participated but grew to mentor and inspire other young girls in her community. She later attended Framingham State University where she aspired to be a forensic psychologist.
She was a bright, courageous, beautiful young soul who loved her family, friends, pets, arts and crafts, and all things Disney. Thankful for the support of My Sister’s Wish and other amazing donors, Luisa was finally able to witness the magic of Disney. With her dad and grandfather manning the RV; and her mother, brother, and aunty by her side, they made it to Disney where Luisa was overjoyed to watch the iconic fireworks. A memory to last forever.
Luisa, affectionately known as “Lulu” to those closest to her, is loved by all who know her. Lulu is a true inspiration. Like a true Disney princess, Luisa embodied strength, modeled bravery, and exemplified purity. She is our “little famous warrior”. We love you Luisita.
On behalf of the entire family, we offer a special thank you to Luisa’s cancer care team at Mass General Hospital: the outstanding staff of Ellison 18, Lunder 9 and 10, and the Yawkey Center of Leukemia. Special recognition goes to Brooke, Caroline, and to one who stayed with the Laboy family from the very beginning, Debby Granados. The compassion, around-the-clock care, and support they all provided could never be repaid. Thank you.
An evening viewing of Luisa Marie Laboy will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, October 23rd, at Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn.
A funeral service for Luisa Marie Laboy will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 24th, at Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, with interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, 134 Broadway, Lynn, MA 01904.
In loving memory of Luisa, donations may be made to a cancer charity of your choice. A GoFundMe has also been established to support her family, and contributions can be made there as well.
