

Born in Greensboro, North Carolina, Mabel was the daughter of the late Albert and Lucy (Heath) Jones. She was raised in Greensboro and came to Lynn in 1945 and resided here ever since. In 1950, Mabel was crowned “Miss Centennial of Lynn,” and was then known as “the first Queen of Lynn.”
Prior to her retirement, Mabel worked as a Welder for the GE for over 32 years. She enjoyed bowling, bingo, and was an avid Patriots and Red Sox fan. She was very sociable with her friends and was known to get them all to dance.
She leaves her children, Barry Hathaway and his wife Linda of Topsfield and Bonnie J. Burwell of Salem, NH. She was the sister of James Jones, Alice Edwards, Betty “Kat” Spence and Ann Liles all of NC and Helen “Lois” Tuck of SC. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Franklin Jones and Dorothy Parrish.
A Visiting Hour will be held in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home 157 Maple St. LYNN on Saturday from 10-11AM followed by a Funeral Service in the Funeral Home at 11:00AM. Relatives and friends invited. Interment Puritan Lawn Memorial Park. Gifts in Mabel’s name may be sent to the Salvation Army 1 Franklin St. Lynn, MA 01902.
