

Marguerite T. (O’Gara) Rickards, a life-long resident of Lynn, passed away at the age of 95 on Monday, March 28, 2016 in the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. Born in Lynn on April 14, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Esther (Lyons) O’Gara. Marguerite was raised and educated in Lynn. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s Girls’ High School with the Class of 1938. She married James F. Rickards, on July 14, 1956 in St. Mary’s Church in Lynn. The couple spent over 30 years together in sacramental marriage until James’ passing in April of 1988. Marguerite was a long-time employee with the City of Lynn, working in the city water department as a principal clerk until her retirement in 1982. A communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Lynn, she loved many types of music and had a great fondness for all animals. Marguerite is survived by her daughter, Catherine M. Rosenthal and her husband, Jonathan of Lynn and her grandchildren, Seamus, Sean, Maureen, and Timothy. She also leaves her niece, Alice Gunning and her nephews, Vincent and Joseph Gunning. Marguerite was preceded in death by her siblings, the late Esther O’Gara, Dr. Roger O’Gara, Frances Gunning, and Edward O’Gara. Funeral from the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St. LYNN on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, 579 Boston St. Lynn at 9 AM. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Lynn. Visiting Hours will be held in the funeral home on Friday, April 1, 2016 from 4 to 8 PM.
