Marie Black, a long-time resident of Lynn, passed away in her home Sunday morning, December 18, 2016 at the age of 82. Born in Lynn on March 24, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Peter P. and Katherine (Mutrie) Black and was raised and educated in Lynn. She worked for many years as an administrative assistant in Lynn Hospital before taking employment with the former J.B. Thomas Hospital in Peabody where she retired. Marie was an avid reader and always stayed well informed of current events. She enjoyed classical music as well as Opera with Luciano Pavarotti. Marie had a nice, jovial laugh and it could be heard through all her family celebrations.
She leaves her beloved cat, Aggy along with her brother, Harold Black and his wife, Muriel of Fremont, NH as well as her nieces and nephew; Bonnie Hart of Lynn, James Black of ME, and Susan Norton of NH.
A Funeral Service will be held in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St. LYNN on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 12 Noon. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. Visiting Hours will be held prior to the service from 10 to 12.
