I met Mark in 2012 crewing on Blue Sky in my first Nantucket-bound Figawi.  Mark was a sailor's sailor.  An amazing helmsman!  A great sense of humor, Mark was very wise, warm, friendly, open and happy to advise me.  We kept in touch  after the race, and I've enjoyed revisiting his terrific emails. So sorry. I knew him very briefly but I'll never forget him.  He's one of the greats. My sympathy to his family and  friends.

I had the privilege of sailing with Mark in the 2013 Figawi.  I'm very sorry to hear of his passing.  He will be missed.

I met Mark under the tent at an event at the Herreshoff Museum.    Was so saddened at the news of his passing, as I spoke with him a couple weeks before.  So many trips to Rockport and Marblehead. I first knew Mark from the Insight Seminar. Our friendship initially based on adventures that expanded our comfort zones, including a trip to Jamaica. From stories, Mark had done this in past Roxy days and continued through sailing and social events. I miss you friend.

I met Mark dancing at Roxy's and we became friends. He was a kind spirit who spoke kindly of everyone.  My prayers go to him and his family. Marcia

Sorry to hear about Mark's passing.  He was a great guy and will be missed by many in the area and sailing community.

     Mark crewed with me in the late 80's and quickly became a favored crew, not only because of his sailing skills but because of his uniqueness. It was a great pleasure to listen to his sailing stories, told with great gusto, because sailing was his passion and his sailing friends, his life.  
      It is at times like these where I find comfort in God's promise that, " Death has been swallowed up in victory. Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?"

I met Mark through our friend Herb Motley when I was getting ready to work on Herb's house and needed some help. Mark was available and Herb described him as "loyal to a fault". His loyalty was just one of his many good qualities. 
I treasured our friendship and I will miss seeing him on his walks and running into him at sailing events. Our conversations always came around to sailing, which was certainly his passion in life.
Rest in peace, my friend.

Mark crewed with me in many regattas dating back to the 1980s.. We did the North American Offshore Championships in Annapolis, The Halifax, and many local Marblehead regattas. He lived for racing and was actively involved crewing on every type of racing sailboat....and lent a hand whenever there was a need. It will be sad not to see him around the harbor, his second home.

Met Mark many, many, years ago thru a mutual friend, Elaine Moore. Thru the years we shared so many meals and party fare and Mark always had great stories to tell and kept us very entertained. He will be surly missed by all that got to share his joy.

So, one day about thirty years ago I was painting the bottom of an International One Design and this guy comes around the keel and said, "that's a very pretty boat!" And that was my introduction to Mark. Another Nahanter, we sailed and frequently walked around the island on winter days watching the birds.  But he never did paint the front steps on the house! -<)

Neal and Joe, I was very sorry to hear of the passing of Mark. He was the one person who would take off for a day with me to go skiing in Vermont. I will remember him always. Neal, if you are ever in the Philadelphia area, call me at 215-493-1146.

Gone too soon! You still had sailing races to complete. I grew up with you in Melrose and have known you for over 50 years. So sorry to hear about your early death.
 I will always remember your Austin Healy in High School, and so many ski trips to NH and Vt. They were wonderful years with many happy memories.
You left us too soon.

Mark, I will miss you as a friend, a fellow sailor, a gentle yet adventurous soul. You were always a valued contributor to every situation. Our many common bonds made you feel like a brother to me. Nichole and I, and every crew member you ever sailed with on Blue Sky and every other boat will remember you as a bigger than life human being. Mark, you rock! Sail fast up in the heavens!

I remember Mark driving Blue Sky during the Falmouth to Hyannis race a couple years ago.  Using consummate skill, he overtook several competitors who were sailing more cautiously.  As we crossed the finish line, he smiled his wonderful smile and commented that most people couldn't and shouldn't sail so deeply by the lee.
He was always the first one on deck when it was blowing hard and something needed doing.  More than once he made a rapid and skillful repair that got us home in good shape before dark.

Quirky, opinionated, well-informed, helpful and generous with your time and attention. We will miss you, mate.
I remember the fun we had and your overgenerous help when I needed it most.

Mark, I will remember you for your compassion for all living things, your adventurous spirit, disco, concerts, walks on the beach, and always trying to find and do good in all situations.    I miss you.    To all of those who loved him, my deepest sympathies.

Mark was a very sweet man who was always kind and friendly. His love for the water and sailing always prevailed. I will remember his smiling face and sense of humor.   My sympathy goes out to his family during this difficult time.
