

Born and educated in Ballyhaunis, County Mayo, Ireland, daughter of the late Thomas and Ellen (Quinn) Byrne. She came to this country in 1947 and lived in Lynn for most of her life.
She was a waitress at the former Nandee’s Restaurant and a cashier at the G.E. Cafeteria for many years until her retirement in 2009.
Mary was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church. Her life was centered around her family. Some of her happiest times were spent cooking and entertaining the family during the holidays. Her home was always inviting. She also enjoyed walks along the ocean and knitting.
She leaves her children Rita Antonecchia and her husband Dan of Quebec, Canada, Mark J. McDonough of Swampscott, T. Joseph McDonough of Andover, Mary Ann Jean and her husband David of Amesbury, Michael J. McDonough and his wife Claire of Peabody, and Stephen McDonough and his wife Nicholeen of Concord, NH, her brother Timothy Byrne, of Liverpool, England, 13 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was sister of the late Kathleen Byrne, Austin Byrne and Patrick Byrne.
Funeral from the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home 157 Maple St., Lynn Monday at 9 AM. Memorial Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church at 10 AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Memorial Visitation Sunday from 2-6 pm . In lieu of flowers , donations in Mary’s memory may be sent to St. Mary’s Building Fund 8 So. Common St., Lynn, MA 01902.
