

Born in Lynn, she graduated from Lynn English High School, and was the daughter of the late Daniel and Mary (O’Connell) Ryan. She and Earl married in 1944 and moved to Saugus.
Mary was a former housekeeper at St. Margaret’s Rectory in Saugus.
She was a member of the Human Rights Committee for the Hogan Regional Center. A communicant of St. Pius V Church, Lynn, she was a 30 year member of the Church Choir.
Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and fierce friend.
She leaves four sons Joseph Putnam of Saugus, Michael Putnam and his wife Maureen Griffin Putnam of Sudbury, Saugus Police Lt. David Putnam and his wife Deirdre Hurley Putnam of Ipswich, and Dennis Putnam of Saugus, three grandchildren Alexander and Nathaniel Putnam of Sudbury and Erin Putnam of Ipswich, a brother Leonard Ryan of Peabody, a sister Louise Ryan Boiselle of Lynn, and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Helen Ryan Powers, Dorothy Ryan Hakey, Daniel, Arthur and Kathleen Ryan, Eileen Ryan Ward, Rosaleen Ryan Turner, Patrick Ryan and Eamon DeVallera Ryan.
Funeral from the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home 157 Maple Street, Lynn on Wednesday at 8 AM. Funeral Mass in St. Pius V Church Lynn at 9AM. Burial in Riverside Cemetery, Saugus. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8PM.
